Here the clients aimed to optimise the views from their living areas – true entertainers at heart. Planned for a newly purchased, elevated stand in the prestigious Midstream Hill Estate, most of the home is situated on the ground
floor, never obstructing the natural views.
A site like this, with a south-facing entrance and view to the south, always proposes a challenge to ensure enough northern exposure. Using textures rather than colour,
we created differences in levels and planes. The whole house is painted in the same colour, while stone cladding
and rough, trowel plaster emphasises this.
Screens add an extra level of detail, creating the privacy
required by the client. Clerestory windows in the living, dining and kitchen space incorporates the much-needed sun from the north. The remaining spaces enjoys natural sunlight and great views.
